Cinematic animation is a major discipline, focusing on the creation of the high-quality, pre-rendered or real-time cutscenes that drive a game's narrative forward, often requiring a level of polish and direction akin to an animated film. Visual effects (VFX) animation is another critical area, responsible for creating all the dynamic, non-character elements, such as explosions, fire, water, smoke, and magical effects, which add spectacle and impact to the gameplay experience. Even the user interface (UI) requires animation, with smooth transitions and responsive menus being essential for a polished user experience.
